Our History
Cimarrón Putumayo is born from the desire of black communities to organize, be recognized, and defend their rights in a territory historically marked by state abandonment and armed conflict.
Since our beginnings, we have worked tirelessly to make visible the Afro-descendant contribution to the culture and development of Putumayo. We started as a small collective and today we are a departmental network that articulates community councils and grassroots organizations.
Over the years, we have led processes of training, cultural rescue, and rights enforceability, becoming a reference for peace, resistance, and dignity in the Amazon region.
Our Essence
Resistance
We stand firm in the defense of our rights and territory, overcoming obstacles with the strength of our ancestors.
Brotherhood
We build social fabric based on respect, mutual support, and community work (Uramba).
Identity
We celebrate and preserve our African roots through art, oral tradition, aesthetics, and spirituality.
Leadership
We train new generations with critical and proactive capacity to transform our reality.
Our Mission
We are an organization committed to keeping alive the ancestral memory, cultural rescue, and the survival of our uses and customs, promoting the strengthening of children and youth through training, leadership, identity, and community participation processes, which boost their comprehensive development and active role in social transformation with dignity and autonomy.
