CIMARRON PUTUMAYOLIVING
HERITAGE
OF THE AFRO-PUTUMAYOPEOPLE

We defend life, strengthen identity, and pave ways of dignity, memory, and future for the Afro communities of Putumayo.

We are roots.
We are memory.
We are Putumayo.

The Cimarrón Putumayo Association is born from collective work, the defense of rights, Afro-descendant culture, and love for the territory. Our work connects generations, protects ancestral knowledge, and strengthens community processes that build dignity.

Our Pillars

Culture and Identity

We rescue the music, dance, gastronomy, hairstyles, oral tradition, and ancestral knowledge of the Afro-Putumayo people.

Territory and Nature

We recognize the jungle, the river, and the land as sustenance, memory, medicine, and a school of life for our communities.

Rights and Community

We promote leadership, participation, opportunities for women and youth, economic autonomy, and the defense of dignity.

Our Headquarters

Librada Maturana
Afro-Putumayan House

Located in Puerto Asís, the Afro House is the heart of our association. A space for meeting, resistance, culture, and brotherhood for all Black communities in Putumayo.

Here we hold workshops, musical rehearsals, training, and assemblies. It is our house, where roots grow strong and identity is celebrated every day.
